- Answer Hello RandyB, This refrigerator model has a built-in ice maker that cannot be removed. Placing food in the ice bucket space is also not recommended because doing so could damage the ice maker. The freezer basket can be removed. Please refer to pages 73-74 of the manual link below for instructions. - Answer Our fridge (same model) stopped cooling and freezing after 6 months. Samsung refused to replace unit after technician couldn't find issue and just flushed freon through it. Most expensive refrigerator we've ever purchased and lasted less than a year. Sorry I don't have better news.

QuestionWe have a samsung (newer) with the ice maker in the top and have had to have it repaired 3 times and I am very leary of buying another one. The ice maker froze up again and I don't want to put out $400 plus again to fix a bad system. Is it fixed.
