“Surround Sound Hello, i intend to connect this tv (which i just bought yesterday to the sonos system). The question is, will this tv output (or play) 5.1 through its digital optical out since the only way to connect this tv to the sonos is through the digital optical out. thanks”

I am not familiar with the Sonos product, but I have my TV connected this way to my surround system and it works perfectly. Good Luck!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No, a 5.1 signal will not pass through the television using the optical input. The audio signal will downgrade to a 2.1 or 2.0 signal. If you have a Blu-Ray player or cable/sat box that will be decoding a 5.1 signal, connect that device directly to your audio system using the optical cable. If your Sonos system is a single-speaker option only, then just connect the TV to the audio system, even if it is a 2.1 signal. A 5.1 stream will require 5.1 speakers and decoding.
