“Formats supported/Not supported? I'm not real knowledgeable as far as the formats of files that can be played on these discs, but can it pretty much play everything from regular movies you rent, on up to home movies made on discs? Can you view photos you've put on them, music & home videos? Maybe the better question should be, what doesn't it play/support? Thanks for your help in advance!”

Yes. This plays all different formats of DVDS, music CDs and REGION 1 & 2. Which means you can play USA & outside international movies from, Tawanese, Italian, French, Spain, just to name a few.
