• Yes, just as with most phones, you ‘ll need to turn up the brightness thru your settings

• It has the 'Adaptive Brightness' feature. Turn that on and it will automatically brighten up in sunlight and dim indoors. I can see mine fine in any light without adjusting the brightness manually.

• Crown has auto-brightness adjust, so yes, it brightens up nicely in sunlight, by itself. B T W -- MY 3 WEEK OLD VERSION 8.O CROWN UPDATED TO VERSION 9 ANDROID 4 OR 5 DAYS AGO......HOW COOL!
