Yes. When a call, text, email, notification, etc... goes to your phone, it will also show up on the watch. You can answer calls to your cell phone on the watch. The speaker is actually very good. The watch acts as an extension of your phone. The advantage of the LTE version is that you do not have to have your phone near you or even on to have the watch act as an extension of the phone.
