You can make phone calls with this watch but you need to be near your phone..it is not independent of your phone.. hope this helps

Please try again later.There are two main versions of smartwatches, the "GPS" version which connects to your phone through Bluetooth, and the "GPS with cellular" version which still connects to your phone through bluetooth - but it also is capable of being a standalone phone (you can make calls through it without having your phone anywhere around. This is going to be true for every type of smart watch there is. If you opt for the GPS with cellular version, then you would be able to make initiate a call through the watch, or tell bixby to call someone for you regardless if you have a phone with you. Maybe you're miles away at the store or a friends house, etc. If you opt for the "gps only" version, then you can still initiate and make calls through the watch - or use bixby or whatever, but you'll need to have the phone within about 30 meters (about 90 feet) - depending on what's in-between your watch and the phone of course.
