There is a setting in the samsung gear app that will allow you to keep your phone unlocked

Yes. This is a nice feature of the product. To take it a step further if your device is out of range it will automatically lock your phone and I believe notify you so you don't leave it behind. I also believe will help you locate your device if you misplace it.

I have a S6 Edge, and no it doesn't keep it from locking,but the watch stays connected
