• no it does not, it reads from your wrist and works great it had the same reading as the device in my drs. office

• The GF2 does not, but the app does. I personally use the Scosche Rhythm+ when lifting weights in order to get a more accurate reading. This syncs to the app, but not to the GF2. The wrist based heart rate readings from the GF2 works great for steady state cardio like running, walking and biking.

• You don't need to wear a chest strap it is in the Gear Fit 2 .
