Gear Live runs Android Wear. Gear 2 runs Tizen (Samsungs OS). Tizen will take a great while before it takes off if it does. Too many people are already familiar with Googles OS. Gear 2 is also a better design over the Galaxy Gear. With the Gear 2 and Gear Neo you are held to a Samsung Device running Android 4.3 or higher with the Gear Live you can use any device running Android 4.3 or higher. The gear live does not have a microphone, camera, or IR blaster but the novelty of those options runs out quickly. The 100 dollars more for the Gear 2 is not worth it for those upgrades considering Tizen will likely hit some huge road blocks with limited developers. The Gear Neo is thensame price as the Gear Live with the same features as the Gear 2 minus the camera but again it is running Tizen. The biggest complaint so far on the Gear Live is the battery being around 21 hours with minimal use and people having to charge it every night. Lets be real on that, if you own any of the others you are gonna charge them nightly as well, LIKE EVERYONE DOES NIGHTLY with a cell phone. I have owned the others and they were really nice and cool but the Tizen OS really made me worry so I have ordered the Gear Live and i am waiting on that now. There are several reviews online from people who aquired them from Google IO but its really all in what you want the watch to do. Live is for notifications mainly and Google now when you need an answer in a hurry. Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo are for people who just want to leave their phone in their bag or pocket for the day but again, running Tizen and limited in apps. Good luck with your choice but it all comes down to what you are looking for it to do. Dont let ALL the reviews out there scare you, some people expect to much. And when you see people complaining about the software issues (not many) with the Gear Live remember, its not the product with the issues, its the software, same software in the LG G watch and upcoming *Moto360*.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.there is a HUGE difference, 1) Gear live uses google brand new android wear Operating system. While gear 1 or 2 uses samsungs Tizen OS. 2) Gear live would be supported for much longer since google pushes out updates to its software while samsung would likely not push out alot to the gear live. 3) The gear live (and any other android wear devices) are based around google's voice command system) EX: you can ask the watch almost any question and it would respond almost instantly. If you are looking to get the gear live be understanding that the gear live and the lg g watch are only the first android wear smartwatches that came out. Some amazing things are in the works such as the Moto 360! round smartwatch and many more to come. ps. I just ordered the gear live. { ; anymore questions feel free to ask me
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The biggest difference between these is the operating system. The Gear live runs Androidwear and is fully compatible with any android phone. The Gear and Gear 2 run Samsung's new proprietary OS called Tizen. At the moment, they are only supported by Samsung phones. If Tizen will gain traction or not I cannot say..personally I chose compatibility and stuck with the Live and Androidwear. A very good comparison of all of Samsung's smart watches (currently 6 of them) can be found by doing a google search for "Comparing the six Samsung Gear smartwatches".
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Biggest advantage is Android Wear platform that is going to grow. at the moment gear 1 and 2 may have more functionalities, but other than samsung, no one else is supporting it. Google and the communities of developers are behind Android Wear.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would say that Gear Live has the Android Wear OS which means it has Google Now ("OK Google") and the Gear 1 and 2 work with S Voice (which is useless) and that is the main reason why i got a Gear Live and not a Gear 2 .. the good thing about the Gear 2 is that you can pair it with your wireless headset and play music that you have stored on the watch itself also the audio feedback from the watch is a good feature. but for that the hardware is in the Gear Live and might be one day able to pair it directly to your headset + it has the same amount of storage to save music on the watch.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.First, recognize that the Live is running Android Wear, and the Gear 2/Gear 2 Neo are on Tizen. I can't speak to the Gear 1, but as a current owner of the Gear Live I recommend going with the Neo at the same price point. I plan to return my Live in the next couple days to get the Neo myself. The Neo stands out in two ways to me. First, and most important to me, it has a stand alone music player and can pair to a bluetooth headset to stream that music during a workout with no need to have a phone around actually supplying the music. Second, the fitness apps offered by Samsung on Tizen are much better than the pedometer only function of Android Wear. Almost certainly, the long term promise of Android Wear is better than that of Tizen, but personally, I think I'll be revisiting it when we are closer to that horizon. This current offering leaves much to be desired.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.See my review I just posted. Gear live works with ANY android, not just only 2 Samsung phones and the voice with Google now BLOWS away Samsung's S VOICE! Not even in the same ballpark.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You can use gear live with any brand of cell phone so if you upgrade and think something else is cooler than a Samsung you still have a smartwatch.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Previous answer says gear live has no microphone. I meant to say no SPEAKER, camera, or I blaster......
