“I've read a couple other places that despite being part SSD, the fan is still very loud.... is this true?”

In my opinion, I don't hear any fan noise at all. My laptop is only about 3 weeks old. It's possible that this problem develops over time. But, brand new out of the box? No noise that I can hear.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No way is the fan "loud". Fan comes on upon start up and every once in a while. You have to listen for it to make sure it's working! don't worry about the fan.......worry about the stupid OS from MS which sucks!!!
