The Geek folks refused to install it for me. Since I had a preexisting power line over my fireplace, the solution was an extension cord to connect A sound bar. It was hidden behind the TV.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The use of the WMC701 above a gas fireplace is not forbidden. However, we would note the following: 1. Our product is intended to be mounted between two vertical studs. A power cord is provided to connect the lower module into a standard wall mounted outlet. The provided cord must be utilized and not substituted. Is there an outlet available above the fireplace? If not how will the provided cord be routed to the nearest outlet? 2. Does the TV manufacturer approve of the installation of their product above the gas fireplace? 3. Does the Mounting Hardware manufacturer approve of their product being mounted above the fireplace? If the TV and Mounting Hardware manufacturer approve of the installation and our product is capable of being installed in compliance with our installation instructions (link below) then we do not foresee any issues.
