Best Buy offers Geek Squad Protection which is what I would recommend that would replace the whole thing if they cannot fix it. I always get that protection with all my electronics and its worth it, less hassle just bring it to bestbuy and if they can't fix it just grab a new one and exchange it.
A:AnswerIt will depend on how you back it up. If you use a file system that an Apple can understand and just copy the files it should work. If you use some backup software, most likely it will require the backup to be read by the original computer windows installation.
