• A:Answer WD Passport is an external hard drive. You could conceivable run a laptop off it but I would strongly encourage you to replace your hard drive--either by contacting HP or by using Best Buy's Geek Squad folks--and then get a WD Passport to have backups. WD makes it easy to schedule backups of your computer so you won't face the horror of losing everything on your hard drive and NOT having a back up. I back my Spectre up every month.

• A:Answer They make WD Passports specifically for Macs, too, not just Windows-based PCs. I'd talk with the folks at Best Buy (and no, I don't work there LOL). They're very helpful and you can get set up with a good way to back up your new hard drive so you won't lose stuff if it ever crashes again... I always recommend doing a monthly backup and WD makes it easy with their scheduling software.
