  • QuestionIf I purchase an Onyz EZR Satellite Radio with Home Kit can I add it to my Companion Plan and listen to it offline without internet and without another subscription? And is it Bluetooth compatible?

    • Answer The Onyz EZR is a pure satellite radio receiver so it will require its own satellite subscription which can be added to your companion plan. As a satellite radio is receives audio from the satellites and is completely off line so no need for Internet but it does require a satellite subscription. Note: your existing plan might already include a streaming subscription which would allow you to use a streaming device at home for streaming on your Smart TV or Smart Speakers such as SONOS. That being said, the Onyx EZR does not support Bluetooth.

    • Answer Based on your short description, it’s unlikely that your SiriusXM Onyx EZR radio itself is directly causing the buzzing or tones on your downstairs neighbor’s audio system. However, audio interference can sometimes occur due to how the radio and audio equipment are connected or powered. Here are a few steps you can take to isolate and resolve the issue: 1. Try connecting your EZR radio to a different powered speaker to see if the buzzing sound goes away. 2. Plug your SiriusXM Onyx EZR radio and any connected audio equipment (such as an amplifier, receiver or powered speakers) into a different electrical outlet, preferably one on a separate circuit from other large devices. Power supplies from amplifiers or receivers can occasionally introduce electrical noise that nearby systems might pick up. 3. Make sure all cables are secure and undamaged. Especially the power cord and audio cables. 4. Ensure your radio antenna is placed in an open area near a window and away from other electronic devices. 5. At higher volumes, especially with strong bass, sound can travel through walls and floors, sometimes causing faint buzzing or vibrations in nearby areas. Try lowering the volume slightly to help reduce the sound transmission.

This Satellite radio includes everything you need to use your Onyx EZR at home: the satellite radio, A home dock, an indoor/outdoor antenna, an AC power supply and an audio cable with RCA plugs to connect to your home stereo or amplified speakers.

    • Answer The best way is to get a SiriusXM streaming subscription (many of our subscriptions already include streaming). Then use an internet radio such as the GDI-TTR3 or a powered speaker like Sonos or download our streaming app onto your Smart TV, Roku, Firestick or Apple TV and stream SiriusXM on your TV.

  • QuestionWe have an old Bose model AWRCC1 & an OnyX EZR Model XEZ1H1 Home Kit. Bose still plays but remote doesn't work: we can only turn Bose on, off, & adjust volume. Is SXZR1H1 compatible? Does it include remote, antenna & cables? Does remote have an FM button?

Also, if you need a complete home kit to use with your Onyx EZ, then you could purchase a Model #SXDH3 or SXDH4. Both of these spare home kits include the home antenna and AC power supply and a home dock and include the SiriusXM v2.0 Dock & Play Remote Control. Both of these spare home kits are compatible with the entire Onyx family of satellite radios including Onyx, Onyx EZ, Onyx Plus and Onyx EZR. Similarly, the SXEZR1H1 kit includes the Onyx EZR radio as well as the home dock, home antenna, AC power supply and the SiriusXM v2.0 Dock & Play Remote Control.

    • Answer Yes, the Onyx EZR can connect to any Vehicle receiver with Aux in via the included 1/8in stereo aux cable or it can connect to any FM receiver using the Onyx EZR's build in FM modulator along with the optional FM Direct Adapter Model # FMDA25.

  • QuestionDoes my home antenna have to be in or by a window or will it work 10 or so feet from my patio door which faces south ?

    • Answer The antenna needs to be either directly at the south facing window or door or often outside of the window or door. Many windows and doors have bug screens or metalized reflective coatings that will block the satellite signal. Placing the antenna a long ways inside and away from the south facing window will greatly narrow the angles where the antenna can 'catch' the satellite signal and risk the signal being completely blocked as people walk past the antenna. Extension cables are available so you can keep the antenna at the patio door and still have the Satellite radio a longer distance away.

    • Answer Your subscription includes streaming so you can use your streaming credentials on video products such as Roku, Firesticks, Apple TV and on Active speakers such as Sonos. Alternately, you can listen on your iPhone or Android all of these will accept your SiriusXM accounts streaming credentials. You can also purchase our SiriusXM Table Top Radio model number GDI-SXTTR3 from BestBuy, SiriusXM's estore and other resellers. The TTR3 uses your streaming credentials and has its own speakers or you can connect the TTR3 to your stereo. Or you can purchase a separate Satellite Radio with a Home kit to use at home but this option will require a second subscription.

    • Answer Possibly the best option for use at home would be the GDI-SXTTR3. This is out tabletop internet radio which uses your streaming account already included with your subscription. This internet radio can be used anywhere around your home wherever you have access to Wi-Fi. Alternatively you could use the Onyx EZR with Home kit but this will require the included satellite indoor/outdoor antenna to be located on the south side of your home where it has an unobstructed view of the southern sky. Often this needs to be mounted outside of a window to avoid any metalized coatings on the window or metal bug screens which will block the satellite signal.

    • Answer The radio comes with everything you need to use the radio in your home. Just dock the radio in the included home dock and attach the antenna and plug in the included AC adapter. Then place the satellite antenna in a window with an unobstructed view to the south. If your window has metallized coatings or metal bug screen mesh then you will need to run the antenna to the outside so it can 'see' the satellites to the southern horizon. The Onyx EZR has line level stereo audio output so you will need the connect to a home stereo amplifier with RCA input jacks using the included stereo cable.

    • Answer The Onyx EZR with Home Kit comes with an AC power adapter that supplies 5volts to the Onyx EZR home dock. If you want to use your Onyx EZR in a vehicle then I recommend you get a SiriusXM universal Vehicle kit Model #SXDV3. This kit includes the magnetic antenna you will need for a vehicle as well a vehicle car dock with mounting adapters for vent and dash and a 12v power adapter that plugs into the vehicle dock.
