The soundbar hooks directly to the tv optical port. OOther input (music) comes via wifi and the Sonos app.

While it is connected to the TV, you can also still connect Bluetooth devices to it and play music or whatever. Obviously, you will not want to play your TV and another device at the same time.

We however don't have DirectTV, but we have everything else you mentioned and it was an easy hook up. This is our third sound bar. We had two different versions of LG and wish we had just gotten the Sonos. We highly recommend it.

Just i doubt wjat kind of remote you have on your tv if it has ir remote then it will work from your tv remote. But if u have smart or bluetooth remote then u cant adjust volume form your tv remote. You have to use universal remote or uour cable tv remote.
