The X830C uses an IPS panel, and as such is a HORRIBLE TV. It can't do blacks at all-dark scenes are just a mushy black mess. Unfortunately I've been completely unsuccessful trying to figure out what the X800C *is*. It MIGHT just be a smaller X810C, in which case it's probably an awesome set. But if it's using the same panel as the X830C, then it's garbage. Sony is 99% of the time a safe choice with great TVs that do everything well...but that X830C is unfortunately a giant exception.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Casey, I was wondering the same thing. They are $200 different at best buy. I'm thinking the 800C is the "older" model, and the 830C is the newer one.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This a 60hz tv, the 830 and the 810 were 120hz tvs
