Everyone will be disappointed in the early models for any 4K TV. I have already spent too much $ on the Sony's when they came out and will never buy another one again. The main reason is lack of customer service by Sony and the fact their "help" system just plain sucks as many other posting can demonstrate. I finally saved my money and bought a proper OLED 4K . Obviously only one place makes them (LG) but the picture blows away everything else out on the market. The down side is obviously the cost. I had to postpone many other major purchases (I.e. a car) but again I urge all buyers to go into the stores and compare the 4K's side by side. There is not much difference between the Sony and Samsungs. Vizio is not markedly different either is you are strapped for money. However, look at the LG 4K side by side showing the exact same picture and you will see a huge difference. But you pay for that difference. I now regret buying my initial Sony 4K's and wished I would have waited another year and saved for the 65 LG instead. Again you get what you pay for. If you are replacing a TV in a spare bedroom, then go with a standard 1080p. If you want quality, expect to have to pay for it. Otherwise you will have regrets in the long run as I am now.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Sony said this is a VN Panel, not IPS.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I'm about 98% sure the panel is not IPS. Turned contrast down to 75 and brightness to 35. I've had this TV since 5/19/16 and seems a great TV. Of course I'm no expert, but it has all the features I really like and after some picture tweaking....superb picture 1080i/p and 4k/60hz. Many many apps and 4k streaming wired 25mps/30mps seems to work great. Very happy here :).
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I'm glad you posted that...the X830C is a TERRIBLE set because it has laughable contrast, and I've been unable to find out ANYTHING about the X800C. So do dark scenes on your X800C lack contrast, even if you play with the settings, like 'vivid', contrast, etc.? If so then it sounds like it might use the same panel as the X830C, in which case I'm avoiding it :-/ It's crazy, I'm probably going to buy a 1080p set just because I can't find a single 4K set that actually fits my needs...
