QuestionCan I hook up a hard drive to the USB port and watch avi, mp4 and mkv format movies?I have many movies on my external hard drive that I watch on my laptop. Can I watch these avi, mp4 and mkv format movies on this TV?

QuestionWhy do the bottom screws to attach the stand to the tv not fit? They are too small.I am trying to attach the stand to my tv kdl-50w800c. The brackets that go into the back of the tv fit perfect. The screws that attach the stand to the bottom of the tv brackets do not tighten, they are too small. The stand will come off once you take you hands off of it. Am I missing something, doing it wrong? I did not receive an owners manual

- Answer Yes, you are doing it wrong. I had the same issue and the same thoughts as you. I just kept futzing with it then when I got it right I said "oh, it was me!". Sorry, I don't remember what I did different other than kept at it. Once you do get it, you wonder why it wasn't so apparent to begin with!

- Answer The TV's Q&A section and menu disclaimers say that by default there is no built-in internet web browser app installed but it says you can download web browser apps from Google's Play store for this TV. I haven't decided if I want to give this TV my phone's Google user info yet or create a separate google account just for my TV so I can't get into the Play Store from this TV yet to go and look for Chrome, Opera, etc which means that I can't say for sure what this TV's internet capabilities and web browsing performance are like but supposedly it IS possible to add an app to browse the web with this TV.

- Answer As shipped this TV does not include any installed web browser apps but according to the TV's help menus there should be web browser apps available for download from the Google Play store for browsing the web on this TV although I can't say which ones or how well they work. Since it's an Android device that uses the Play store it seems reasonable that it ought to support some version of the Chrome web browser app but I have not yet tried it because I haven't been willing to give my TV my phone's Google account information so far so I can't get into the Play store on my TV yet, although I'm thinking about making a new google account just for this TV so I can test stuff like that and see how this TV performs.

QuestionWhy does TV click sometimes when changing stationsEvery now & then, actually quite often, the TV will make anywhere from a soft to loud clicking noise when changing stations. Can anyone provide a solution to this? We have read various things, talked to various techs and the Best Buy Geek Squad folks & we have tried various settings but the clicking continues.

- Answer Mine clicks when I play a DVD in my bluray player. I think the click has something to do with the TV switching from 480 SD to 720/1080 HD. I have not noticed this when watching cable, though.

- Answer The 50" version of this TV that I have came with a wall mount adapter kit included (NOT a wall mounting brackets system!) which contains 2 long silver studs that screw into 2 holes on the back of the TV. Without them the thick lower base and thin upper portion of these TV's wouldn't line up vertically to allow proper attaching of a wall mounting bracket to the TV. Those 2 included adapter studs make the upper and lower areas of these TV's line up vertically which also gives you the proper bolt/screw holes layout on the TV for attaching it to most TV wall mounting bracket systems. If you've misplaced those 2 pieces since you unpacked your TV, check the packing material and the inside of the box more closely to locate those pieces. If you are unable to locate them you will need to find the part number for the version of the kit that contains those 2 pieces for your model of TV and order a replacement kit from Sony.
