QuestionI have an XBR-75Z9D with an HT-ST5000 sound bar. Can the volume be controlled by the volume button on my cable TV remote control? I have Fios with a Motorola QIP7232 box and a VZ P265v5 RC remote.

- Answer Yes it can if its a universal control or has capability to enter codes on it. I use the DTV controller to control volume of it.

QuestionThe sound bar turns on with my Samsung TV using my Xfinity remote. Problem is every time the TV comes on the Sony Sound bar home screen comes on showing the inputs. I then need to use sound bar remote and hit home to remove it. How to stop this?

- Answer The best way around this is to connect your Comcast (or any provider STB) directly to the TV on a separate in input. Do not use the ARC HDMI (Audio Return Channel) as you’ll need this to return the sound from your TV based apps and now the Comcast STB as well. All the other devices can go directly to the sound bar and will use you HDMI ARC connection to communicate with your tv. What you’re describing will go away and you’ll never have the issue again. When switching between devices you’ll only need to power them on. The sound bar will switch automatically. When done go to your input selection on your tv and select your Comcast STB and the audio will automatically return. Second Sony sound bar and the same issue irritated the heck out of me. Found that I use my TV based apps and Uverse STB just as much. The rest is easier to toggle around with since it’s used less frequent.

QuestionDoes this Sony sound bar have "Night" or "Apartment" mode and will it work with 2017 Samsung Q7f model. Hearing no Atmos support?

- Answer I assume you are connecting it by HDMI, make sure to connect the output of the sound bar to an input on your TV. Turn your TV on and switch it to that output, then turn on the sound bar. Then I would suggest opening the ‘Settings’ of your TV first, options related to Picture (4K, HDR, Color Space) and change all ‘Auto’. Then press the Home button on the Sound Bar, you should see a screen, then go to ‘Setup’ then to ‘Screen Settings’. Make sure the first two are set to ‘Auto’, third one Video Direct - ‘Off’. Then press back and select the source on the sound bar. If it’s still not working, try powering off the sound bar, then TV off, then power on the TV, then the sound bar. Hope that might help. I’m not familiar with your particular brand of TV but this should hopefully get things working.

QuestionI just bought this soundbar along with the Samsung MU8200 and I am finding that even though they are connected with ARC they for some reason disconecting themselves and to re pair them I have to unplug them both and start again.Am I am doing wrong?

- Answer Larry, we are experiencing the exact same thing as you. Ours is less than 1 month old on a Sony 900 new TV 4K.. something like that. So our apologies, we don't have a solution to offer as we too are trying to find one for ourselves. If we are successful in identifying a permanent solution, we'll share it asap. Good luck!

- Answer My understanding is yes, potentially Sony MIGHT Roll out a firmware update to do so as the hardware already supports extra speakers link. But as I said, might.

- Answer The Sony one plays Atmos very good, the Samsung unit with rear wireless speakers plays more a surround sound just depends on what size living room you have and if you want full surround sound, didn’t want rear speakers for my setup and the Sony does the job with high res audio

- Answer No this unit is all one piece. The sound bar & speakers are one all you can do is setup your room threw the setup on the screen. The only thing you can control is the subwoofer volume.
