- Answer I have used CC with mine. It works on disc media and also some app content.

Questionis the Sony BDP-S5500 the direct successor to the brilliant S5200 ?Hi Dave . . . thank you for responding but you did not answer my question. The S5200 got outstanding reviews especially in "What Hi-Fi magazine" and won it's product of the year award 2014. Is the S5500 a different machine to the The S5200 or its direct replacement. The S5200 is the machine I want to buy, but if the S5500 is simply a newer version of the S5200 and of the same quality then I am happy to buy it instead, but I am looking for all the same virtues of the The S5200. I hope I am not being too complicated, but I am simply wanting a really outstanding Blue-ray 3D player. "What Hi-Fi" nominated your Sony S5200 as The best in its Blu-ray DVD player class for 2014 beating ALL other comparable brands. Thanks Ian

- Answer Hi Ian, These players belong under the same series however some features are added to BDP-S5500 compared to BDP-S5200 such as the BD-Live (Profile 2.0), new user interface, customization on MY Apps, the PS now, and many more. QuestionHow do I connect my blu-ray player to an older TV?I bought this blu-ray player and I cannot find a way to connect it to my TV. I have a 2002 Mitsubishi big screen. There is not a HDMI input.

- Answer I hope this information helps and isn't too late. You will need to buy a converter for the available connections on your television. You'll probably need a HDMI female to VGA male converter in addition to an digital audio to analog audio converter. I had to do the research on my own...the sales people (who were much younger and not familiar with older technology) at Best Buy had no idea what I was trying to do when I was trying to set up my DVD player up to my older television. Once you set up the product with the conversions, you will love it! It's compact and streams beautifully with no glitches. It's worth the extra effort.

- Answer It is not region free. I had an old dvd that is for outside U.S. And it did not work.

- Answer You Tube no longer supported a player for the older Blu ray players but I have Sony DVD players purchased in 2014 and 2015 that have newer You Tube players that work. For the improved user interface and You Tube player support the newer models are worth the small amount of money these cost now. The newer models also offer simplified streaming from your mobile phone.
