yes you can turn it off, you have the option in your menu settings to turn on or off the Voice-activated recording feature

When you set the LCF (Low Cut Filter) function to “ON” in the stop or recording mode, you cut out a low frequency to reduce the roaring noise from wind, etc.; therefore you can record a message more clearly. you also have the ability to raise and lower the sensitivity of the microphone for continuous recording.
