“Just opened these and the usb-C tranceiver is missing. Unable to use or connect to Ps 5 without this. Unable to return as purchased in Sept ( for Christmas thus just opened now). Is there any way to get the receiver separately?”

Hi Soso2, We are sorry to hear your USB-C transceiver was missing. You can purchase the replacement part (Part No. 9-301-021-34) directly from our authorized parts partner at this link: https://sony.encompass.com/item/13444078/Sony/9-301-021-34/.
