“Hi, Would one be able to use this like an MP3 player? I.e. if they downloaded something onto a micro SD card and tried to play it through the speaker of the recorder. thanks,”

Hi there! Yes, this unit can also be used for that purpose, but normally we wouldn't advise you to do that. The speaker on this IC Recorder is excellent for playing Voice sound but not that great for playing music. Hope this helps! Regards, Sam
