- Answer The X800 is an Ultra HD 4K player and it also plays 3D BD discs, as long as your 4K TV also supports 3D. As far as I know, 3D Blu-Ray discs are only in 1080p format, so they will be upconverted. I could not find any information on your TV, so I do not know if your TV model supports 3D. 3D is already a dying breed and the majority of TV manufacturers have given up on the format since it was mostly a gimmick.

QuestionI have OPTOMA HD141X Projector, not sure it support 4K. Can I use this BR player to watch Netflix/Amazon 4K content? Also can I watch Blue Ray DVD to get 4K effect on my Optoma Projector or is it just waste of money till I upgrade to 4K projector or 4K TV

- Answer It is my understanding that if all parts of the system are not 4k you will not get 4k. The picture will probably be very good just not 4k hdr.

- Answer Yes. The Sony TV referenced in your question is a 4K Ultra HD TV. The TV does not support any HDR features, but it will display standard Ultra HD 4K Blu Ray discs from the X800. The TV is also 3D, so it will also display 3D Blu-Ray discs from the X800 player.

- Answer No. Sony has no plans to offer Dolby Vision in the X800 player. You need the X700 player.

- Answer According to various sites such as AVS Forum and BluRay player forum, this unit is not upgradable to Dolby Vision through a firmware update as had been hoped for.

QuestionThis is my second UBP-X800 player in three weeks. Both of them periodically FREEZE requiring power off. The second one is worse freezing every 30 minutes. I have high end chocolate HDMI cable, receiver is Pioneer Elite. What could cause this problem?

- Answer It seems like those who have had problems with this unit freezing have had issues with cables or the CEC control. You might first want to try using a different cable that is certified premium for HDR. The other problem is sometimes related to the HDMI handshake between the player and tv or receiver. If you are connecting to the receiver first, you might be having a handshake issue with the tv. Try connecting the player to the tv directly, and use the second HDMI output of the player the Pioneer for audio if you haven't tried that. Some have also turned off the ARC control as that can have issues as well.

- Answer Hello, the spectrum app is not guaranteed to be available in this player. You can only use the app the is pre-installed. For additional apps, we recommend checking the list of supported apps using the VeWD app store. It's an online application delivery service from the VeWD (previously Opera) browser which provides apps that work with your devices. Regards, -Erin

QuestionI have an older receiver (probably 9 years old) and am unable to get picture or sound. I'm using the exact same HDMI input on my receiver that I used for the Blu-ray I'm replacing (a Sony 4K UHD upscale model). What am I doing wrong?

- Answer Try connecting to your tv first to seem if you are getting any picture and sound. If so, you could then run a second cable from the Sony player for audio to your receiver. Your receiver may not be passing the higher quality signal of the player due to a handshake issue.

- Answer Yes it does for most discs but some blu-rays do not. I have read that if you keep a USB flash drive connected that might work for some blu-rays. It seems to have something to do with built-in memory for the player.

- Answer No, this is not a recorder. The only recorders available to my knowledge are made my Magnavox (Funai) sold at Walmart and a few other sources but are older models as they do not seem to be making them currently.
