Hi, Smithy! Unfortunately, it is only designed to be wireless. The cable is for charging the headphones. You may want to consider the WH-1000XM3 which gives you the option for a wired connection. As far as I know, when plugged in they can't be used, as this is how they charge. You have to unplug them and connect them via bluetooth.

They’re wireless headphones. The jack is for charging only.
