It's about as noisy as a motel room A/C unit. I think it's fairly quiet

Previous units I've owned would commonly wake me when it switched from fan to cooling as the compressor kicked in, but this one transitioned very quietly.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I am a pretty light sleeper myself and I don't mind it. It's got a rather quiet hum to it (especially in comparison to other units). With that said, I find I don't mind the little bit of white notice while I sleep. A standard box fan is a lot louder. Mind you the volume does increase with the fan speed but that's something easily maintained. Plus you don't need it all the way up to have a fair temperature in the room.
