Yes you need to install drain hose if you are using the air conditioner only on your unit. Second when you set the room temperature you desire when it reaches that the unit will cycle as that point and maintain cooling effect.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. As far as I know, per the manual, you only need to install the drain hose if you are using it to dehumidify the area. Also, if you set the temperature and settings to auto, once the temperature is reached the unit will shut down.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, you do not need to install a drain hose. The Unit has a Drain Pan and when the Pan is full and needs to be emptied, "P1" will be displayed on the LED Display and the Unit will turn off on its' own. Empty the Drain Pan and you are good to go again. The same applies to the Dehumidifier Mode as well. On Auto Mode, the Unit will Cool and when desired temperature is achieved, the Unit will run on Fan Mode. You will hear the Compressor activate (low hum) when the Unit needs to Cool again. If you use Cool Mode only, the Unit will shut down and reactivity when it needs to cool to desired temperature set. I recommend using the Auto Mode ( that's what I use ), this ultimately provides the best comfort overall
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, you need to install the drain hose when using this as AC only. The AC will continue to run once the temperature is met.
