Actually, I like Nikon cameras. I have an old Nikon Coolpix L28 and it works with this tripod. This tripod is probably a little over kill for a L28 camera but why not get a really good tripod so when you upgrade your camera you won't have to upgrade your tripod.
A:AnswerThis is a response to the previous answer. The retractable rod actually pops into a hole on some camcorders. My guess is either for alignment or stability.
