It is compatible with any camera with a 3/8 in. socket on the bottom, so, yes, it should work with your Canon 6D. If you're using a 100-400 mm lens you will probably need to add some weight on the hook below the center post to keep it from tipping over. It's sturdy, but lightweight; and, with the legs fully extended, it has a high center of gravity.

I use a monopod for my Tamron 150-600. I suggest you check the recommended weight rating. I don’t remember what it was off the top of my head.
