You can record any moment saved on the DVR in video or snapshots to any Flash Drive. They can either be recorded in AVI or MPEG4 (MP4) for better quality. As far as cropping, computer software will allow you to zoom in or crop snapshots

Yes you are able to upload footage to a flash drive using the DVRs USB connections in the back.
