If we purchase this, can you add cameras to it? null

1 camera per channel. If your 8 chanel system came with 4 cameras you can add 4 more. You can onle have as many cameras as you have chanels.

The DVR included has 8 inputs, so you can only connect maximum of 8 cameras. The cameras included come with 60 feet long cables. If you plan to install any camera over 60 feet away from DVR, you have to buy longer cables. Overall it's a good system.

This is an channel camera system and it comes with 8 cameras. That is all the cameras you can have.

yes there are splitters that can allow for more cameras, but if you want email and cell phone alerts, beware. I have not yet been able to set up the alerts. i can only record.
