  • Questionthe camera would be about 350 ft from the house. will the signal reach that far?

    Asked by mike.

    • Answer Hello mike. Thank you for your question. The Corecam works on the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi band & has a wireless range of up to 65ft/20m, but it can be less depending on the materials of your home, other competing devices etc. If you were to connect your phone to your home's Wi-Fi router and then walk outside, the phone will disconnect when it gets beyond Wi-Fi range. It is exactly the same with a Wi-Fi camera. We recommend looking into our wired NVR kits on which you can extend the cable up to 330ft without affecting the signal, or alternatively we have a really exciting new product launching on 7th of March called MaxRanger4K. This has ultra long range wireless & could be exactly what you're looking for, please keep an eye on Swann's website next week to learn more. Hope this helps. LV - Swann Team

  • QuestionCan you leave this plugged in with the USB cable? 24/7/365?

    Asked by etp7.

    • Answer Hello etp7, Thank you for your question, this is not recommended. Using poorly insulated chargers can damage the battery. If the charger shorts or generates heat near the battery, it can do enough damage to cause failure. While lithium-ion batteries have built-in protections to stop them from overcharging, using unofficial chargers can damage the battery in the long term. LV - Swann Team

  • QuestionWe want to monitor our cats when we are away. Will placing it near the cat door be close enough to activate it when a cat comes through?

    Asked by Anni.

    • Answer Hi Anni. Yes, the PIR motion sensors on cameras are tuned to detect human body temperature, however dogs and cats will be able to trigger it as well if close enough. Please be aware that it can take half a second for a battery operated camera to wake out of its sleep state and start recording so if your cat moves really quickly there is a chance it may have left the camera view before the recording begins. If you position the camera well you should be able to get the result you're looking for. A mains powered camera such as our SWIFI-2KICAM will tend to wakeup and start recording a little faster if you have a power socket nearby and want to look at alternative camera options. -SD, Swann team

  • QuestionThe camera will be approx. 42' from car/carport. My current camera (1080) isn't clear enough to show faces or license plates. Your camera spec says it will go up to 50' of clear vision. Is this true? Will I be able to make out faces and read plates?

    Asked by DoDi.

    • Answer Hello DoDi, Thank you for reaching out to us with your question. Based on the information provided, we would recommend reaching out to a member of our technical support team and providing more information on how high your camera is mounted. We would recommend looking into a security solution that records in a higher resolution. Please let us know how we may further assist you, Thank you. JV Swann Customer Support
