QuestionDo I need to port forwarding for this security camera. if yes, how long can I use the port forwarding when I connect outside network to connect the security camera.

- Answer Hi Chloe. No, most of our users simply connect the NVR using the P2P method. You simply connect the NVR to your router using the included network cable, and then scan the QR Code label on the top of the NVR using the Swann Security App. The QR code contains the ID for the NVR and helps you pair it within seconds. Port forwarding is a more complicated process & not something we generally support, but is occasionally used by those in IT who have specialist knowledge with such things. -SD, Swann team

QuestionDoes this setup allow for continuous recording?

- Answer Hi MntMan. Swann's DVR & NVR systems can be set to record either from motion, or continuous 24/7 recording. Due to the accuracy of the PIR sensors & video analytics on each camera we would normally recommend that customers use motion-based recording as it means that you get more relevant clips & notifications. With continuous recording you will end up with hours of clips with nothing happening, but, the system has this option if you require it. -SD, Swann team

QuestionI'm buying a ethernet coupler to make the cables longer, which ethernet cable should I buy, cat4, cat5, cat6, cat7, cat8 and can I connect the new ethernet cables I will buy with the ones the camera comes with?

- Answer Hi Hunter. The network cables that are included with this kit don't fall under a specific Cat number, any of the options you've listed will be more than fine. For example Cat 5 has a rating of 10/100 Mbps and this is more than enough speed for these cameras to operate. Hope that helps. -SD, Swann team

QuestionDoes this camera record audio and visual? And, does it loop record after it reaches it max on memory card? Or do you have to buy a new memory card each time?

- Answer Hi Tricia. The NVR box in this kit has a very large 1TB Hard Drive inside it. All of the cameras send their video back to the hard drive where the clips are stored until the hard drive is full. Once it is full, the hard drive will automatically start recording over the oldest clips first, replacing them with the new ones. Each camera in this kit includes a microphone so that you can record Video & Audio for each clip. You can also choose to disable the Audio if you don't want sound recorded. -SD, Swann team

QuestionOur home is pre-wired with Cat6 cabling for intended cameras, specifically power video, etc. Is this system compatible with our existing cabling? If so, how do I terminate cabling to ensure proper wiring orientation for successful installation?

QuestionWhat is the total storage recording capacity for this system in simple terms such as all of the 4 cameras can record for 7 days continuously before the system over writes the first day. PleAse….in useful terms.

- Answer Hi Speakerfritz. If you wish to switch this system to continuous recording then 4 cameras at 4K resolution will typically fill up a 1TB Hard Drive in around 5-7 days. The exact answer may vary a bit depending on what settings you use. If using the default Motion-Based Recording instead you could get at least 6months of clips on the same hard drive. -SD, Swann Team

- Answer Hi Vivian. For the NVR unit itself, you can create different user logins if you wish to via its settings menu. For access to your system from the Swann Security smartphone App, you would need to share your app email address and password with other family members and then they can login to your app account on their own phones. There is no limit to how many phones can login to the same account. -SD, Swann team
