A:AnswerThis camera will work independently of the app. You do not have to have the app open to record footage. The app is actually optional. You can use the app to change settings of the camera and download footage but it is not required. You can just pop the ad card out and insert it into your laptop and download the footage that way.
A:Answerno unless there is constant power going to your cigarette lighter it will not drain the battery. another option is to hardwire it to use the the battery for parking mode, and that only uses a little bit of power to record in parking lots while car is parked and gets bumped.

A Hardwiring kit is required to access Parking mode. This kit detects the change in voltage when your ignition is turned off and puts the camera into Parking Mode. This cannot be achieved with the Car Charger or with a 12v outlet this is always on.
