Does the HD come with a single partition? I hate when a mfg splits the HD into 2 partitions, a stupid idea.

Hard Drive partitions are a result of limitation with PC software. OR to allow segregation of data with files.
IF you desire to have one inclusive HD you will need to ensure the OS can accept using the HD in that fashion.
PCs normally do not, Apple does without reservation.

Yes, I believe this is a single partition because you need to create your own recovery media. So there's no recovery partition on this computer, so make sure you make one.
