  • QuestionCan it connect with any phone regardless of the carrier ?

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer Yes. You won’t have any limitations with a carrier. It would not apply in this scenario as you’re connecting devices over standard wired and wireless networking protocols.

  • QuestionSo when you order it and get it do you just cut it on and it give you a password and you put that in your game, laptop, phones, etc or do you already have to have a WiFi box in the house because I don’t have a WiFi box in my home so can I still use it.

    Asked by Ike.

    • Answer I hope this helps answer your question; The device has a generic password set at the factory. DO NOT KEEP THIS PASSWORD - DO NOT USE THIS PASSWORD BEYOND AS NEEDED TO SET THE DEVICE UP - ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOU ASSIGN THE DEVICE A PASSWORD ONLY YOU KNOW - THE PASSWORD YOU ASSIGN THE DEVICE WILL REPLACE THE PASSWORD THE DEVICE HAS FROM THE FACTORY - IF YOU FORGET THE PASSWORD YOU ASSIGNED TO THE DEVICE, THE FACTORY PASSWORD CAN BE RECOVERED AND PUT BACK INTO SERVICE VIA A HARD RESET OF THE DEVICE - MAKE SURE YOU PROVIDE A NEW PASSWORD FOR THE DEVICE AFTER A HARD RESET. THIS DEVICE REQUIRES ACCESS TO AN INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDER, I.S.P. TO FUNCTION. THE INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDER, I.S.P., PROVIDES THE GATEWAY, OR DOORWAY, TO THE WORLD WIDE WEB AKA; THE INTERNET, AKA; CONNECTED WORLD, AKA; INTERNET OF THINGS. The I.S.P. provides internet service, (SIGNAL), to this doorway, gateway, access to the internet with equipment built to their specifications. The I.S.P. can provide their equipment, or you can purchase your own equipment built to the providers specifications, the equipment allows you to have an account with the I.S.P., and monitored access to the I.S.P.'s internet service signal/feed and data management/dispatch/delivery equipment for which you will pay a monthly fee. All Mainstream Cellular service providers, are also I.S.P.'s and allow you to carry the internet with you via your smartphone. This all said, its my opinion based on personal experience, 98% of the time you do not need, and will have no use for, a device such as this. This device can connect to EXISTING INTERNET SERVICE. INTERNET SERVICE THAT IS ALREADY ESTABLISHED WITH AN I.S.P., AND TO WHOM THE CONNECTED CLIENT OF THIS I.S.P. PAYS A MONTHLY FEE FOR THEIR CONNECTION, LEVEL OF SERVICE, AND POSSIBLY EQUIPMENT. THE ONLY THING THIS DEVICE DOES, IF YOU HAVE THE INTERNET CLIENTS PERMISSION, IS ESTABLISH A WIRELESS RELAY CONNECTION TO THAT CLIENTS WIRELESS BROADCAST I.S.P. CONNECTION. If you travel, use public WIFI, this device will enhance the pre-established WIFI signal to that I.S.P. Clients connection to the internet via that clients pre-established WIFI router's broadcast signal. If you find yourself in a Motel on a single floor plan where the office is the center, two wings of rooms extending to the left and right of center, and the Office is the location of the I.S.P. connection and WIFI Broadcast signal. That signal may not be strong enough in the end rooms to ensure a stable internet connection, this device may be able to reliably connect to that WIFI signal, and amplify it so that your Laptop can connect. The biggest advantage to this device, the reason for having one, it's protection of your computer and the data it holds inside. Simply put, this is the brick wall between all the people using the motels WIFI I.S.P. connection, and your laptop. All those other people have to get through this device, before they can start snooping around inside your laptop. If the existing pre-established WIFI I.S.P. connections is overloaded with too many users, this device can't do anything to fix that. This device is not capable of providing internet in the absence of a PRE-EXISTING fee based I.S.P., internet connection. Even so called free access public WIFI, at the point where that WIFI signal originates, the I.S.P. connection/access, somebody is getting a bill for that service. This device will only connect to wireless internet service if you have the permission and logon credentials to use that service. I use it to communicate with my Vehicle's 3 onboard computer networks. From my home office, to my Vehicle in the driveway, I can reprogram vehicle systems attached to any one of the 12 vehicle computer modules that the vehicle manufacturer allows me to access and manipulate. Primarily convenience, comfort, visibility, and sensors that alert the driver to potential hazards. As well as run various vehicle system diagnostics, and engine diagnostic procedures. As long as I have a signal to my smartphone, I have internet access. Lastly, if you think you can use this to make an end run around mom and dads restrictions regarding your use of the residential WIFI, think again. This device does not hide well, and certainly not in plain sight. Besides, we will most certainly know about it, the problem for you is, how much we know, and for how long we knew it! Hope this helps a little.

  • QuestionCan I use this to connect to a cellphone hotspot and then will it create a network that can route ? The cellphone will only allow 1 device connected at a time. Visible

    Asked by Van.

    • Answer Yes, and you should be able to connect a laptop, and printer, to it. The biggest problem with using one of these over a cellular connection, the more devices you connect to that cellular connection, the hotter the insides of the smartphone are going to become. Note to all the Smartphone manufacturers! We do like our little devices, but, being able to run a laptop, tablet, printer, and digital camera using cloud software, AND, still take and make calls, From the location of this, What3words address, segregate.foreground.proposes. NOT having to fear premature demise, or a total meltdown of the connected smartphone, no doubt smoking! to provide those fully supported connections, that would be AWESOME!

  • QuestionHow do I connect this to my PlayStation 4 and do I need like wifi to use this thing

    Asked by Ant.

    • Answer If you are going to use your Play Station online you will need to have a WIFI connection. This device DOES NOT ELIMINATE THE NEED FOR A RESIDENTIAL INTERNETT CONNECTION. Where ever you plan to use this device that location must have EXISTING internet service! All this device does is provide more reach/range for an existing internet connection and its wireless internet modem. This device also provides better security if it is used to connect to an EXISTING, public WIFY system as the data stream can be encrypted. That probably makes this a pointless purchase for you, correct? Well, depends, if you reside near a public WIFI location, this device may be able to provide internet service by hitching up to that locations internet service provider. If that WIFI's signal is too weak, this may be able to extend the serviceable area of that public access WIFI. However, you may want to look at one of the faster versions, I don't think this will be able to handle gaming in 4k or 3D.

  • QuestionFirst question so this router provides WiFi in itself automatically? Secondly could you connect its hotspot to a gaming console?

  • QuestionCould the router support something like a console if connected to Wi-Fi?

    Asked by Bob.

    • Answer This is a WiFi router, once you connect it to the internet (e.g. hotel wifi) you can connect your other devices to this router to access the internet. Many people use this travel router to allow devices to connect to hotel WiFi when there is a login or password screen they aren't able to access. Consoles, phones, anything WiFi can now access Internet without needing to login when going through router.

  • QuestionCan I go online with my ps4 with this product?

    Asked by Millz.

    • Answer Well, If I can talk to my 2016 Ford Platinum Expedition EL's 2 Main Onboard Computers, or any one of the 10 sub systems on that vehicle from my home office, its in the driveway. You should have NO problem with your PS4, however, you may want to upsize for a faster data transfer rate, this thing will not handle 4K. For me this thing is perfect, my Expeditions onboard MS CAN, HS CAN, and OBD-II vehicle networks all transfer data at 300 to 500 MBS. This thing maxes out at 600, rock solid, from a distance. when I plug the WIFI ELM 327 adapter into the vehicles OBD-II data port it creates its own network but the range is barely outside the vehicle, this takes that open unsecured network, secures it and broadcasts it pretty far. Anyway I can connect my office desktop system to that network, the office system is about 350 Feet from the vehicle. If I am outside, no barriers, it broadcasts about 1,000 feet, and would probably do much better if I could relocate the unit to the dash. It pulls its power from the #2 USB port under the center armrest inside the vehicle. Its really kind of amazing! Seriously, it depends on the games: if you want to play 4K you need a much more robust WIFI set up. In my opinion I would go with one of the ones I point out below. This WIFI device I feel would be a disappointment, if not at first, certainly it would be eventually. This is more for office work, paper pushing, email, vehicle data communication, not conquering the world, ridding the universe of vile vermin, staking claim to the Orion Nebula, gaming??? First, or second, generation games, think games before PS-2, when X-Box, was just X-Box. While this thing is fantastic for me, for you, Need for Speed Heat, would be like driving the BQE out of NY at 5 pm on a Friday!

  • QuestionCan I use this with out having Internet at my home I need it for my kids tablets

    Asked by Britt.

    • Answer You must have an existing Internet connection with hardwired service provided through a cable modem that can transmit wirelessly, WIFI, or direct connection hardwired to the computer. If you already have that, you don't need this. This can boost a, "free," internet signal perhaps provide a more stable public WIFI, Free, internet connection for you. I use it to communicate with the Ford MS CAN, HS CAN, OBD-II onboard vehicle network. For example, my 2016 Ford Platinum Expedition EL has 2 Main onboard computers, and 10 subsystems. The vehicles WIFI ELM 327 Adapter broadcasts an open WIFI signal a very, very, very short distance from the vehicle. This takes that open WIFI network, not internet, internet, but vehicle specific internet, boosts the signal, secures the connection, makes it private, so I can program the onboard systems to function the way I want, not the way Ford thinks I want them to, from my Desk Top computer 350 Feet away in my office. Where its dry, warm, and toasty.
