A:Answer The FCC rules changed in 2017 so that handheld radios using FRS/GMRS frequencies all became EITHER an FRS or a GMRS radio, using essentially the same frequencies. It cannot be marketed as both and cannot be sold as FRS if it has an output capable of more than 2 watts, making it a GMRS unit, by definition. It's difficult to tell what actual output these radios have, without your own bench test results. However, if it's not being SOLD as GMRS, then rest assured it's not over 2 watts.
