If you are asking this I assume you live in DC or Virginia which are the only two states that are illegal to own? or Canada?Maybe a commercial driver?
If you live in Virginia this should be fine, detect range for the Spectre elite on this detector is between 40 feet and 5 feet depending on the unit you get, unfortunately you do not know which one you get .
But compared to 1000 feet of other detectors I would say this is the most stealth arrowed detector in the market.
In Canada is risky since they do confiscate detectors in some areas while in Virginia is just a 200 dollar ticket.
For fully Spectre immune detectors try:
Radenso Pro M (not sold here)
Escort redline EX (also not sold here)
The R3 (which is the non arrowed version of this) does fairly well against spectres too.(spectre is the Radar detector detector)
