• You have to set your TV tuner (cable,DirectTv, etc) to 1080p. Keep in mind some broadcast are not in full 1080p.

• What are you trying to watch? Because if you are watching Netflix or watching a dvd then it should definitely be 1080. If you are watching tv and not getting high quality then it's not the tvs fault it is just a very low quality broadcast
