“We were planning on purchasing this TV, but I guess, as Boomers, are not as tech-savvy as we thought. Do you HAVE to use the "Smartcast" and "Chromecast" features, or can a traditional remote (which I see comes with the TV) be used only?”

Thank you for a great question on our SmartCast™ E50u-D2! If you are looking to use the display just to watch your cable box or satellite receiver, you do not need a smartphone or tablet. If you want to access the menu, or utilize applications, you cannot access any applications through the display itself. These are all are accessed by Casting them from your iOS or Android smartphone or tablet. It must be running iOS 8.0 or higher or Android 4.4 or higher. You can pair them with the VIZIO SmartCast™ application available for free download in both app stores. You can Cast many popular applications such as HBO NOW, Netflix, Hulu Plus, Spotify, VUDU, and hundreds more!
