“how can i copy a file from another hard drive and not create a duplicate on the easy store if file has it has data in it already”

Hi, Thank you for showing your interest in WD Easystore hard drive. You can connect both the drives with the computer and copy/move the files or folders. It will prompt with some options if you will already have any file with the same name in the drive. Please try again later.Assuming this is a windows environment when you copy files it will as if you want to overwrite existing files, just say no and that file will not be copied, older versions of windows will have a check box for "do this for remaining instances" which will cause it to copy only new files, win 10 i think says something similar to overwrite, don't overwrite, keep both copies, select don't overwrite and only new files will be copied
