- Answer No, but you can if you want to. MOST external USB drives come formatted to use the NTFS file system, which should just be plug and play for an modern Mac, Windows, or Linux PC (I use all three platforms and just leave the drives NTFS almost all the time). Of course, if you WANT to, you CAN reformat the drive (to Ext4 for example, for Ubuntu Linux) and take advantage of certain perks, but it's absolutely not necessary.

- Answer I see no seam in the plastic case, but there are 4 rubber feet on the bottom which may be hiding screws. Your call. I have no need to attempt taking mine apart!

QuestionWill this WB 5TB easystore store videos and still plug in to USB on my Phillips Blue Ray Player to watch? I have a 1 tb easystore and my Blue Ray player does not recognize anything plugged into it. But my PC with windows 10 does. What do I need to do?

- Answer Your blu ray player does not run an operating system, like windows 10, so it can't run the WD drive. You can plug in your WB 5TB to your laptop/PC and connect to your TV via a HDMI cable. You don't need to use the blu ray player. The movies/music or other media can be played using VLC Media player or other such program on your PC and shown on your TV using HDMI connection. The WD 5TB will not work connected directly to the TV or Blu Ray.

- Answer This happened to us. We were using it with the xbox. Talked with a few people. I found out this is good for backing up a computer. It is really not designed for the speed of video games.

However, the hard drive can be reformatted in a supported exFAT format to be used on Windows and macOS. - Answer I tried to install games on this myself but it didn't work out for me. The install window popped up, but nothing was moving. I would say this is best for using this as a method to back up your saves and mods. If you need to make some room you should go for an internal HDD to store your games on specifically. If you're using a laptop, and you can install another internal drive this external drive would be a great alternative to store pics, and vids, etc that's taking up space on your internal. You could transfer that information to your external, and then that way you'd have more room for sim content. Another thing to note is that external hard drives are not recommended for use with Steam or Steam's games. Aside from many potential performance issues, external hard drives may connect or disconnect from the computer at inopportune times as part of their normal operations. You can try to and see if it works for you, but this might just be a good option to have to free up space on your PC so you can have more room for Sims.

- Answer Frankly I do not know. It has an option for Mac. But I do not know anything compatibility with OS on consoles. I would really go back to the manual of your console, it has to have a compatibility explanations.

- Answer I appreciate the answer but it didn't really answer the question. As for PNP. I connected my EasyStore to a Win10 PC and it was not recognized! I had to format the drive manually to get it to work? So much for quality check and PNP. I will be returning this for the My Passport with an additional year warranty and extra software.

- Answer You need to have a USB adapter to transfer data between your phone and the hard drive. I have a Samsung galaxy s21. It came with a USB adapter.

- Answer If it is a new MAC then yes you can use it directly. Older MAC OSs require it to be reformatted - a simple process.
