The cable interface on the My Book uses a USB 3.0 connection and usually is included with the drive. The computer interface end of the cable is compatible with both USB 3.0 as well as USB 2.0 and will interchange without configuration. However transfer.performance rates will be slower through the USB 2.0 port. USB 2.0 offers transfer rates of 480 Mbps and USB 3.0 offers transfer rates of 4.8 Gbps; that's 10 time faster.
