Greetings: I saw your question only today. I hope it is still timely/helpful. Yes, I believe it will work with a regular USB cable - it may be just that the transfer speed may be lower. There should be no harm in trying. - Another Goy.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes for USB 3.0 and 2.0 WD - My Book 10TB External USB 3.0 Hard Drive with Hardware Encryption - Black Model:WDBBGB0100HBK-NESN SKU:6252692
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The cable interface on the My Book uses a USB 3.0 connection and usually is included with the drive. The computer interface end of the cable is compatible with both USB 3.0 as well as USB 2.0 and will interchange without configuration. However transfer.performance rates will be slower through the USB 2.0 port. USB 2.0 offers transfer rates of 480 Mbps and USB 3.0 offers transfer rates of 4.8 Gbps; that's 10 time faster. Hope this helps !
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It comes with a cable allowing usb 3.0 use. I you plug the drive into a usb 2.0 port, the drive will work but slower. beware of using with usb 3 and and using a usb 2 cable. Results may be eradicat.
