• A:Answer I was able to use the the same mounting rack from a very similar Whirlpool I had professionally installed 9 years earlier. Some plastic piece on the door latch actuator broke on the old whirlpool microwave that I used several times a day. Although this could be a cheap fix "if" one properly takes apart and puts back together, I decided to just buy a new microwave. I was lucky and the mounting plate was exactly the same. My wife and I were able to just slip the new microwave in and tighten down the bolts.

• A:Answer The rack is safe for microwave use. It is so you can heat two dishes at a time. However, they recommend removing it if only heating one item. That I do not really understand. I was leaving it in place when only heating on lower level and it was fine. But, when I placed a bag of popcorn on the bottom, it sparked when the paper bag inflated and touched the rack above it. Fortunately, no harm was done. Luckily it removes very easily because I really do not want to store it someplace else.
