A:AnswerNever encountered that claim in my research before purchase, but I can't see how a dryer could possibly work with out a vent. this one certainly requires one. We used to have a device that we ran the dryer vent duct into that would trap the lint and add humidity to our dry air. Tossed it after awhile.

At the top of the dryer there’s a mesh to catch fabric from going into the vent. You need to clean it on every cycle. So you must have access to the top of the machine.
