Most modern PCs do not even have a floppy disk drive anymore. Your files can be copied to CD Roms. A more viable option is a portable external hard drive. A disk imaging software is a good idea as it can make an image of the hard drive that can be restored. This software such as Acronis can usually restore specific files also so the entire disk does not have to be put back on the hard drive.

It all depends on your storage needs, how much data do you have. But a Floppy disk? come on man, do they even make those anymore? Same for a CD, are they made anymore. I don't think either of those would come with enough space anyway. Make things easy on yourself, get an inexpensive, external, USB connected, hard drive with enough space for all your stuff and room to grow.
