Great irrigation controller
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.I made some changes to my irrigation system to have even coverage all over my property. I decided it was time to get a better controller as well. I previously used an Orbit B Hyve controller. It was nice that it was wi-fi connected, but it was not as smart as the Rachio with weather prediction and delaying watering. The interface was clunky and difficult to use. In CT we have had a very dry summer. There were quite a few days where the forecast showed thunderstorms and showers, but the rain never came. B Hyve would skip watering those days, and of course the lawn suffered. Rachio does rain delay intelligently... if the forecast changes then it will modify the rain delay so the lawn still gets the watering it needs. The app is very easy to use and to map out the yard with. If you fully program all the details for each zone, Rachio is able to intelligently schedule watering times and duration based on that information. Also love the water hammer reducing feature which opens the next zone just before the previous closes. We have very high water pressure in our town.

Easy to use, easy install
||Posted .Owned for 8 months when reviewed.Works amazing! This device had saved us money on our monthly water bill and has our lawn looking great! It was super easy to setup and install. I pulled down my old programmable unit and had this installed in no time. Word of advice, make sure you grab the outdoor hosting when you buy this one because I made the mistake of installing it and having to redo the entire install when I got the outdoor housing, which included drilling new holes.

Must have if you have a sprinkler system
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.Yes it’s very good . You can control the zones directly from your phone with a schedule . The device can skip when it rains. I love it . Full control . Start runs if you figured you needed more water and you can pause runs as needed . Very easy to install . Money well spent no regrets . Stays connected to WiFi and syncs back easily with a WiFi reset. I love it.

Easy setup and use
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed. As I only had to remove and replace my old controller with this one, the setup was really easy, especially considering I don't consider myself a handyman. It's worked really great so far. I thought I would be using the app a lot more, but it's really been set-it-and-forget-it since day one. I installed it in my garage which can get really warm in the summer and cold in the winter so I am very curious to see how it will hold up in the elements. So far so good, though.

Very pleased
||Posted .Owned for 1 week when reviewed.Easy setup with a neat zone mapping tool. Had an issue finding clear documentation on how to add my 3rd party rain sensor, but that is not the fault of Rachio. I had it up and running within an hour of unboxing. Highly recommend it.

I Love this thing!
||Posted .Owned for 2 months when reviewed.I had a regular programmable sprinkler controller and they are never easy to program! This was so easy to install, and since I've had it it never comes on with all the rain we've had. The best thing about it is how it adjusts the schedule based on current weather and rain patterns. I'm seeing all my neighbors with their sprinklers turning on at all times of the day and it's been raining here all week!!! Don't wait, this was one of my best purchases!

Best of the best
||Posted .Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.Just got my unit today and it only took 15 minutes to install! The app is pretty straightforward and also easy to set up. It did ask some unexpected questions about what kind of grass I have which of course I had no clue about but it also figures out your region and tells you what the default settings are. I just went with those and everything else was pretty automatic. I even synced it with my Alexa by adding the Rachio skill. Easy Peasy and works like a charm!

Q: QuestionWill it replace my none smart sprinkler controller? If so, is it easily installed.
Asked by Pheasantrack.
- A:Answer Yes it will replace the old controller. We had an electrician install it.Works great.

Q: QuestionIs this controller water-proof? Can it be mounted outside?
Asked by huskerscrub.
- A:Answer No, the Rachio 3 is not waterproof. You need to purchase a Rachio outdoor enclosure, an elecrical cord specifically for outdoor, and wire clips/cable clamps. All of this will cost an extra $40-$$45. With the right tools, you can install in 30 mins or so. There is an instructional video from Rachio that shows you how to install.

Q: QuestionDoes the Rachio 3rd Generation adjust the watering duration for each zone based on soil, weather, etc.; or is this set by the home owner? I'm curious if the water savings is simply by not watering on windy / rainy days or by adjusting water duration.
Asked by RD24.
- A:Answer It does both ways. It gives you the recommendation, and you can change it as you feel necessary.

Q: QuestionMy sprinkler has 10 zones. Can Rachio-8 zones works for all the 10 zones?
Asked by Abbey.
- A:Answer No it will not control all 10 zones. This will only control 8 of them. However Rachio does sell a control that has 16 zones that would be plenty for your setup.

Q: QuestionCan you confirm that this "works with Ring" i.e. is Amazon Ring compatible?
Asked by AZdreamin.
- A:Answer Alexa has a Rachio 3 skill you can add and then via voice control turn zones on and off. I have successfully added the skill but rarely use it, I prefer the Rachio app. Ring is also Alexa compatible and I have my lights and cameras linked.

Q: QuestionIs this good to run a drip system for plants in pots? Also is this the best choice for a second home that is only occasionally occupied?
Asked by Daveland.
- A:Answer This unit is used to manage an irrigation system. If you have inground irrigation that includes a zone that is setup with drip irrigation then it will work great. I can think of ways to make it work if you do not have an existing system however there are We-Fi controllers made to work with a hose / drop system that would probably work better. For a second home with an irrigation system it would work well, I would suggest installing it and being there with it for a number of days just to make sure that it is doing what you want - you would need to leave the WiFi on at the 2nd home all of the time if you want to monitor it and have it adjust to weather conditions
