Finally! Let's see an end to cartridges. It's a monopoly. Most companies don't even profit off their printers but depend on their ink sales. They make cartridges pennies on the dollar. Google it. Ink is a scam.
It's refreshing seeing these printers with tanks. No more expiring cartridges, no more paying for ink that cost almost more than the printer. This printer was easy to set up, reliable, use it everyday without issue. I'm happy for the printer and the availability of these tank printers.

We've had this printer almost a month. I rarely give anything 5 stars but this is close - probably 4.5. So far so good. We decided to crack open the checkbook & buy a more expensive printer hoping for better overall results plus the the refillable ink wells was a big selling point. Our use is primarily home office and family/school printing needs.
Pros:
I can honestly say it was probably the easiest s/u to our network yet. Prints very fast & the colors are accurate for documents. I haven't printed photos yet Also like that the print heads are easily replaced if they go bad.
Cons:
We initially had an issue with the paper feed when trying to double side but i took the trays out & reseated all the internal covers & that seemed to fix it. Doesn't have a phone line fax port but if i need to go "old school" i can always fire up my old printer. No other issues so far.
Overall this seems to be a much more solid printer than the cheaper versions we've purchased in the past - hope it lasts a while.

I absolutely hate printers. They are the most painful piece of tech. I’ve managed fleets of pc’s, Mac’s and Ricoh, xerox printers. I needed a simple, reliable, MFP that would work for years. I didn’t want to drop $800+ for a color, laser MFP. Inkjet has great quality but cartridges and print heads are a joke. I decided to give this a try because of the simple refill and cost per print. First impressions, this unit should last for many years. I did have some reoccurring disconnect issues from both my Mac and mobile app. Auto update was on but firmware updates were failing. After downloading the Mac app and successfully updating, the printer has been stable and reliable. Seems HP has put some effort into improving this experience.

This is my first printer with a tank vs cartridge. I was very careful filling the tank and putting the heads in. It was not too difficult. The printer is fast and works well.

Perfect printer if you want to save on ink costs. We've had it for 3 months now and have had no issues. Set up does require some "assembly" of the printer, but they provide the steps. I've also printed 1 photo so far on glossy photo paper and it came out beautifully. This smart tank does print slower than an officejet or laserjet, but it is worth it for saving on ink costs. We got it on sale for $309.

I have had this printer for well over a year. Every time I use it I have problems with it. Not problems with it printing, it prints very good quality and it does not use a lot of ink. I like that a lot. But I always have a problem with connection , but I'm pretty sure is not operator error. I usually have to unplug it and plug it back in I generally have had issues printing from my laptop or my phone, both which list this printer as my printer to use. I also have problems if I want to just make a copy. If I put something on the glass and just want to make one or two copies I have a problem with that. The manual is not at all helpful. It's very minimal on operation, troubleshooting, and guidelines. I honestly don't think I am the problem. My son is in IT and has to help me quite a bit with it. If I could take it back I would. I would not recommend purchasing this.

I absolutely LOVE how easy it was to get this printer up and running. It took me less than 20 minutes to unpack, install ink, download HP printing app on phone and laptop and then print my first project. I've only been printing for a day or so and have a few things to learn but over all it is super simple, easy and fast at it's print jobs. I did notice when the printer goes to "sleep" it was a bit of a challenge to wake it up for a print job. The on/off button as well as the wifi button are lit up but when I went to print, my computer just kept searching for the printer. So I pressed the power button thinking that would wake it up. Nothing happened. I looked through the manual and it didn't say anything regarding waking it up. I pushed buttons and even unplugged the printer and plugged it back in. Only after I did that did it start to load and reconnect back to the wifi. Asides from that, which again I'll continue to familiarize myself with the printer, It's a great purchase and I would recommend to anyone looking for an in home office printer. Heard great things about how long lasting the ink is, so we'll see over time if that stands up to those incredible reviews.

So far so good. I have no complaints. It does seem that you need the app in order to print wireless, even if you have it connected to the printers WiFi. I also like the double sided printing

Finally got thr printer up and working. Setup instructions were not very good. Had to connect the wi-fi through my phone first, then connect the computer to the wi-fi nexxt to get it to work line it should. The print quality is good. When I scanned their QR code with my phone it took me to an over 50's dating website. Was ot happy about that, but happy with the printer once I got it all set up. The power cable that came with the printer is loose in the printer recepticle and keeps loosing contact and power to the printer.

So far so good. It was easy to set up by following the supplied instructions. The bottles of ink have a membrane that prevents spillage when loading the tanks. No-mess handling is a good thing. But I think its a bit pricy and the paper feed on top isn’t the best (super cheap paper needs to be fed with multiple sheets as it may not pick up a single sheet 100% of the time).

Recently bought the HP Smart Tank printer because I will be doing a lot of printing for a class I am currently taking. Print quality is great and automatically prints on both sides. Best part, I don’t constantly have to replace cartridges. Only downside for me is, it’s a bit large and is a little slow. Otherwise, I am happy with my purchase.

Great printer for the price. Like the feature to print from my iphone. The only issue is opening and closing the top is not smooth. There appears to be a misalignment or poor design, That is the only reason I rated quality a 4. Perfect for a home office

I purchased the Epson 2850 Tank, it was a total fail. Very difficult to setup and a lot of paper jams. I returned it and purchased the HP 7301 Tank. Easy setup with a cell phone, excellent printing.

The print quality is excellent, and the print speed is fine. I would give it a 5+ except for the fact that the printer has no display for changing options and for things like enlarging and shrinking copies.
I should have noticed the lack of a display when shopping for the printer.

Easy Set Up

I was a little afraid of this printer because several reviews talked about how difficult it was to set up. I was pleasantly surprised when I found simply reading the setup manual made setup pretty easy. I took my time and went step by step and had no problems. The color printing is vibrant on regular office paper - It should look fantastic on photo paper.
If you are looking for a solid heavy-duty built printer, this is not it. I am disappointed in the build quality. I have an older HP cartridge printer that is built much better. This printer was purchased for a church, and I am a bit concerned with multiple people using this printer and taking the care that will be necessary to keep it all in one piece.
I wanted to scan and print the cover from a hard cover book and when I put the book on the scanning glass and closed the lid, the hinge came apart on the right side. I don't know if this is going to hold up to the rigors of office use. At best, it is an okay quality home-printer.
I gave it 4 stars because I think the print quality is very good - so it does what it was made to do well. Just don't expect this to stand up to hard use.
I like the fact it has a paper tray, but there is nothing to hold the paper in place. It will hold the paper tightly from side to side, but there is nothing that holds it front to back. I am guessing this will not be an issue or HP would have changed it by now, but just another example being built light.
It comes with large bottles of ink, and I anticipate the original supply will last a pretty long time. The bottles do not "latch on" to the tank when you are filling it, so I am not sure how it will be for adding ink in the future if it does not require a full bottle.
Overall impression - very good print results. Light build quality and will need to be handled with care to keep it one piece.

Is it 2 Years or 3 Years Free Ink?

I love the HP Smart Tank 7301 however, the 3 years of free ink deal is troubling. The item box says 2 years of free ink, but the advertised deal says 3 years of free ink! When I asked the salesperson at checkout, I was sarcastically told "contact HP, I don't know". Yell I still don't know how to get 3 years of free ink, let alone get any free ink! SOMEONE HELP ME
