Hopefully the Start of a New Franchise...

Easily one of the best-looking games on console with an excellent tone-setting soundtrack. This game has drawn comparisons to Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, The Last of Us, Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, and more, but it truly is its own game based around exploration, puzzle-elements, stealth, and (very) light combat. Honestly, it is closest to Hellblade if you have to pick one, only I think the combat is handled far better here. While based in a historical time period, the story takes great liberties and introduces some dark twists into its story, which is actually quite enjoyable despite some occasional jank in the voice acting and animation quality. While I wish some narrative points had been done with better pacing, and perhaps just a bit more setup/emotional build-up, I am overall very happy with the experience and have high hopes for a potential sequel set in this genuinely interesting world. You'll be hard-pressed to find another aesthetic as interesting as this world's time period (Bloodborne's comes to mind). The gameplay does have some AI issues early on, but after a couple of flubs, you'll find out how to easily avoid triggering them. This game is best targeted to those interested in narrative-driven, beautifully presented games, that have room for collectibles and exploration (but remain a linear experience). Temper your AAA expectations, and you will find this to be a true indie gem that could honestly blow-up to something the scale of the Witcher sequels if the developers wisely reinvest some of their profits into expanding the story and gameplay.

Unless you are looking for a massive RPG or a frenetic shooter look no further, this action adventure game is amazing, great voice acting, nice atmosphere, cool story and nice soundtrack.

Plague tale is a great story driven experience. While this is true for most indie titles, as they cannot recreate a AAA game's visuals and world, Plague Tale is surprisingly successful in this regard too! The game focuses more on stealth and diversions than it does in combat. Your companion and the environment offer you a wide range of options while you navigate a plague ridden 15th century France countryside.

    Best looking game of 2019!

With games like Resident Evil 2, Devil May Cry 5, Mortal Kombat 11, and Rage 2 starting off the year, and games like Death Stranding and Cyberpunk 2077 (hoping!) wrapping up the holiday season, it would be all too easy to let a virtually unknown title like A Plague Tale slip under your nose unnoticed. That would be a huge tragedy. Not only is this one of the most graphically impressive and beautiful games (the lighting is unmatched) I've ever played, but the characters, story and gameplay pull you right into the world and really never let go. I actually CARED about the people in this game and found it difficult to put down the controller. This is "survival horror" at its best and so many developers and publishers should be taking notes. Watching hordes of evil plague rats devour living victims in no time, or having Crusading henchmen chasing after you are actually nothing compared to the other frights awaiting you. And let's talk about that soundtrack... Easily one of the best in gaming. I really wish there was a Collector's Edition of this game!

This game is an single player story driven game developed by small studio but with AAA quality production. Highly recommended for the story graphics and good stealth gameplay mechanics. A sleeper hit for sure!

The game is based in France during the 1300s during the time of the bubonic plague. The story follows a young girl named Amicia who is thrust into dealing with the Inquisition and the incredibly designed rat infestation plaguing everything in their path as she tries to keep her younger brother safe. It is an incredible linear game with a fantastic story in a beautifully rendered world in the Unreal 4 Engine. It is definitely worth playing, it is one of my favorite games this year (2019) so far and clocked in at about 10-12 hours for a full play through for me.

I love when non AAA Titles come through with something great. Graphically, it is GORGEOUS! You fall in love with the characters. Voice Acting isn't AMAZING, but you learn to let that go as the game goes along. The gameplay mechanics are above average, if not a little over sensitive. The story is rather captivating, even if it loses you a little bit in the end. Overall, I recommend this title easily. Last I saw, it is free to play now on the Xbox Game Pass. If you don't have that, I believe it's cheap to buy right now anyway! (I got this back in May 2019 when it first came out) I think I got it at that time at a $40 price tag? I did NOT regret it!

A very fun story driven game, focused more on stealth than combat. It's pretty straight forward with very little exploration outside of your path. Really nice graphics and some light puzzle solving.

This game flew under the radar for me but I’m not sure why. The story is compelling. The voice acting is very good. The setting is beautiful. The topic is a bit scary. Plague rats are everywhere waiting to eat you alive in addition to the different political groups trying to find you and your young brother. The game is immersive and the protagonists are underpowered compared to what they are up against. Sometimes it takes a couple tries to advance while you determine whether stealth or force is the best way to proceed.

A Plague Tale is a welcome change to the gaming landscape where bigger = better. The best part of the game is the story and characters. It is written so that one cannot help but feel the peril surrounding the characters. The setting is both beautiful and unnerving at the same time. As others have said, the game is linear by design, but this enhances the experience rather than detracts from it. No menial sidequests to take away from the narrative. If you enjoy games with a well written story this one is for you.

Rats, I hate rats. I enjoyed this game for the most part. Great looking game, with interesting story. I also liked the characters, and the idea of the main character protecting her brother. I never thought I would see a game about rats. Hats off to the developers. My main concern is some of the gameplay mechanics. Takes some time to get used.to controls, especially when controlling the rats. There will be some points in the game where you may get frustrated. This game won’t be for everyone. Overall this is a good game, just not sure if I will replay it.

Man its refreshing today to stumble upon a game as good as this. Great voice acting and character cast. Powerful story that is told really well and makes you feel the characters emotions. I have one small complaint about some of the mechanics in tense situations not being smoother or faster to access, but I reccomend this highly to anyone looking for a standout game.

The graphics are something else. They look so good. The story is great too. Think Last of Us in the 14th century. Definitely recommend this game. Takes about 15 hours to beat. An hour per chapter round about.

I pre-order it coz I love the concept. Amicia is very good and strong girl who try to protect her brother from the dark power. Puzzle is not too easy to solve and the story is interesting enough to make you feel exciting and want to know what is gonna happen with them next. A valuable game for $49.99

I have to say I was blown away by this game. This has quickly become one of my top all time games. The voice acting is excellent, and the story is amazing. It takes a lot for a game to pull me in to the story so quickly like this one did. I highly recommend this game.

An amazing AA game, it feels and plays like "The last of us". If you like "The last of us" you will like this game. For a developer without AAA budget this game surely can compete with them(AAA games), that's why i give this game a 10/10.

Enjoys story very much. Some of it was sad but most was thrilling. If you like a lot of puzzles in your game then you will love it. Graphics are done really well for most of game. There really isn’t any open world. Very linear. That’s why I gave it 4 stars. But very fun. Best Buy has the best price. That’s why I shop there.

The story is great, the gameplay is just challenging enough that you have to get good but you don't need to spend days to get there. The only thing missing is you want the story to do just a little bit farther than the last fight, it wraps up quickly and neatly without giving you a few minutes to bask in your victory.

I love this game. It’s story is great. Definitely for someone that like great stories and don’t mind not having dynamic gameplay. While gameplay is still good, it isn’t action-packed.
