Wonderful laptop! Just wish I got it with a deal instead of full price… Laptop runs really well and never skips a beat when gaming on it. The CPU is based on desktop silicon! With 16 cores and 24 threads! 8GB of dedicated video memory is wonderful too. Perfect for games that need lots of rendering. The laptop does not overheat. I never got mine to overheat. The keyboard is a nice keyboard with the mini-LED per key lighting. The keys have a nice click to them. The construction of the laptop is really good. All metal with a plastic bottom cover. The laptop has no bending when holding it by a corner. Only problem with the metal is that it gives off the light gray metal color in scratches. The computer is very scratch resistant, but my watch band metal managed to start chipping paint away. Electrical tape hides it. The screen is a decent screen that offers 165hz refresh rate, which is plenty for someone who gamed on a tv all their life. The trackpad is nice too. Only complaint is that it can be difficult to use right click in games like Minecraft. Definitely get a mouse. That’s all!

I love this computer. I’m so happy I took my bf’s advice and switched to a computer to play fortnite. It handles fortnite very well, which is great because my other computer wasn’t doing very well. Lol. I love the keyboard with the pretty lights and how customizable the colors are. It has all 4 of my favorite colors on it now since I picked my own colors. It’s super easy to use. Very fast. I’m no longer the last person to get back to the lobby after a game. Lol. I’m usually first. Definitely worth the investment.

Love this laptop, My only issue is it's getting a little hot. Im guessing it's the battery. It is also a little bulky, but that is what you get with am 18". The graphics are great and the big screen is wonderful!

Receiving this package was a game-changer. The laptop feels like a robust desktop computer, with its large, clear display exceeding expectations for the price. The adjustable fans prevent overheating, allowing for prolonged use without interruptions. The speakers deliver impressively loud sound, and the variety of ports makes it versatile for connecting all kinds of devices. It also boasts excellent battery life and ample storage space, perfect for handling extensive downloads and long hours of productivity or entertainment. The only thing I recommend is that I can have access to buy cases that are not just the cotton ones for extra protection and smudge resistance. As of right now I haven’t found any.

I’ve been using my big-screen gaming laptop for a few months now, and it has absolutely transformed my gaming experience. The expansive display offers incredible immersion, whether I’m exploring vast open worlds or engaging in fast-paced shooters. The colors are vibrant, and the refresh rate keeps up with even the most intense action without any stuttering or tearing. Performance-wise, this laptop handles everything I throw at it, from AAA games to multitasking with ease. The processor and GPU deliver smooth gameplay with minimal load times, and it runs even demanding games without a hitch. Plus, the cooling system does an impressive job, keeping the laptop from overheating even during long sessions. The keyboard and trackpad are comfortable and responsive, though I do prefer using an external mouse for gaming. Battery life could be better, but that’s expected with such a powerful machine—gaming laptops generally need to be plugged in for optimal performance. Overall, this laptop is a powerhouse and worth every penny for serious gamers who want desktop-level performance in a portable form. If you’re looking for a laptop that can truly immerse you in your games and handle anything you throw at it, this is the one to get.

This is the best computer I have ever bought in my life. Thank you very much for "best buy"s, I had this choice. The Predator laptop gives you the means to do what you want: games, watching movies or videos in the highest quality, you can take it anywhere you want, it is not heavy, it has a large 18-inch screen that is very comfortable and pleasant to work or play. It has a very good cooling system and especially during games it is noticeable that it works perfectly.

When it comes to PC gaming, one does not simply dip their toes in without wanting to fully submerge themselves in the possibilities of what a high powered PC or laptop can do. I wasn't always a PC gamer. I was one of the first ones in line to preorder every console whenever the generations changed over. I've had every major console since my parents brought a Nintendo Entertainment System back in 1987 (I was 4). Throughout the years, I'd heard that PC gaming was the "superior" option if one was going to be a serious gamer, but I had always brushed it off until last year. That's when I began to "dip my toes" in it by getting a gaming PC with a GeForce RTX 3700. That PC was a pleasant surprise for me because I could do a side by side comparison with my PS5 and Xbox Series X, and discovered the smoothness of FPS. There's no comparison really. Once you obtain anything beyond 100 FPS and go back to 30 FPS gaming, you'll want to throw your consoles through the nearest window. I should have been happy with that PC, but I wanted something more. I wanted to be able to travel with a laptop that is capable of the same expectations as my home desktop set-up. Enter the ACER Predator Helios. This thing is a massive 18-inch behemoth and performs like a top-tier machine. I love playing on this thing. Graphically, it hits most ULTRA marks without a hitch. I've had no issues pushing this thing to its limits. I'm tempted to set this up at home to replace my 3700 PC, but for now, I will enjoy it from room to room. This thing is super quiet. You can hear the fan, but it's not nearly as loud as most I've been around. In fact, I also have a XPS15 that is spec'd out and that machine can get louder than this one. That's impressive considering how much I push it. The bottom can get a tad hot, but that's normal for a high performing gaming machine like this one. I went ahead and ordered a fan for this to sit on when I'm playing and that helps, but again, I've experienced no stutters or overheating issues before I decided on the fan. It's a good idea to have a fan no matter, though. The weight is for sure heavier than a typical laptop, but again, with how much of a powerhouse this thing is, you can't expect it to be light or thin like a MacBook or an XPS. This thing is like Thor and you can't expect Thor to be as light as Spiderman, can you? My XPS has a 4K OLED screen, so I was a bit apprehensive on my expectations of the images being up to my standards, but you won't be disappointed. The colors are rich, and the sharpness is great. It's very nice considering it's 1920X1200. It's more than enough to play on. 4K gaming is still very difficult due to the specs required. I'm very happy with this screen. The LEDs are great too. They're not overwhelming like some gaming machines. There's a subtleness to them that I really like. The keyboard lights up when you need it to and goes dark when you want it to. This machine screams quality as soon as you unpack it. I appreciate that it comes with a sleeve case. It's not going to protect it from a long fall, but it will keep it from getting unnecessary scratches and blemishes when you are not using it. It's nice to have it also to throw in your suitcase if you are traveling without having to worry about it being knocked around with all the other stuff you're packing. You can upgrade it if you'd like too. I have already upgraded the memory to 32GB DDR5 and plan on upgrading the SSD to 2TB to help loading times, but so far, the games I've played on it, I haven't noticed any long loading as is. Games I've played so far are: Assassin's Creed: Origins, Far Cry 6, A Plague: Innocence, The Outer Worlds, GTAV, and Death Stranding. All of these games I've managed near to full ULTRA settings without issue. For example, on Assassin's Creed: Origins, I have 95% of the options on ULTRA and get around 112FPS consistently. That's remarkable considering these the clarity of the graphics. Comparing this to my consoles isn't even fair anymore. I think I'll save the consoles for my kids. There's a reason why this machine has a 4.9 rating. It's one of the best options at this price point. I would even argue it performs well over it's price point, so you can compare it to many $2000+ machines. If you're on the fence and don't want to max out the graphics card, then this machine is for you.

The Acer Predator Helios laptop is Incredible

I got this laptop mainly for two things, gaming and editing videos and it is fast and effective on both so I am enjoying it each time and since I like Reviewing Everything here are my thoughts. First, getting it out of the box, it comes well protected and packaged. And it comes with the sleeve to put it away so it does not scratch. The power supply and cables are a bit big but it is understandable because it has to send enough power when it is needed. The Acer Predator looks cool and impressive for different reasons, the Abyssal Black color is appealing and the LEDs on the back bar as well as the lighted keyboard also adds life to it. As for the speed, it is super-fast, and it comes with different modes to use, Eco, Standard, Balanced, Turbo on or off, I can control the fans and also monitor the computer to know how well it is doing. With Predator Sense I can customize the colors of the keyboard as well as the back bar of the laptop, and it has different modes like Static, Wave, Ripple, Rain Drop, Spot, Fireball, Heartbeat, Breathing, Snake, Neon, Lighting, Star, Snow and I can also customize it anyway I want and with one solid color or any different colors I want. With the 165Hz Refresh rate, it is not only bright but responsive so gaming is more fun. I also like that it does have 16GB DDRS memory so it is smooth and runs graphics without a glitch. And paired with the Intel Core i7-13700hx it performs amazing. It also has great graphics and plenty of storage of 1TB and for my video editing once I am done surrendering them I can also store them away somewhere else. I can connect the laptop wirelessly or wired and either one is super fast. I also really like the USB 3.2 Gen2 it comes with since they are fast, also the Thunderbolt 4 USB-C are very usefull as well as fast, lastly the HDMI 2.1 is right there so I can connect my laptop to either a monitor, TV, Soundbar and more. As for cooling, I can control the fans or have them run on Quiet, Balanced, Performance or turbo, depending on my needs and at turbo, you can hear the fans working fast to cool down the laptop. As for the sound, it sounds fantastic, it does have DTS X Ultra so with either the sound bar or headphones (wired or wireless) it sounds great, like I am there. Something else to know, it has an extra slot for a future upgrade so this is a plus. Overall the Acer Predator is amazing, fast, cool, customizable and powerful, nothing like it. I am Enjoying it.

I love it! It works very well! All my games and apps run smoothly and the fans work great, although can be loud. The only thing that sometimes worries me is that the charger for the laptop can become very hot after a while on a game. I'm stationed near my back door so all I have to do is place it outside which would cool it instantly while I'm playing a game, but otherwise, I'm not sure what I should do if I wasn't near the back door.

Very good laptop. I play it nearly everyday after work. It handles and performs as good as you can expect from a laptop. If you want something that can do anything get a pc with a tower so you can upgrade it to handle anything. But with this it does everything I want it to. Ranging from modded Minecraft to modded lethal company. It runs modded Starfield good aswell. I am very pleased with this.

Way back in the early 90’s, I purchased my very first desktop tower computer and it was an Acer. After a few decades and a plethora of computer systems, many purchased in store, many built from scratch, I have finally found my way back to Acer with the Predator 18 gaming laptop. Having an 18” screen is currently pretty unique for a laptop. Having an 18” screen for just about anything, but especially gaming, is just plain awesome. While I do wish it was QHD, I still find that the 18” size at FHD is very beautiful, sharp, and vivid. Having the larger screen size seems to make up for it and not only for gaming, but also watching Netflix at 4K resolution is super sharp and detailed. The Predator 18 is the perfect size for taking in a movie, or playing games and that is precisely what I use it for. If you feel like it, you can always hook up your external monitor, or even use a third party mechanical gaming keyboard, or mouse, but I feel right at home using this as an all-in-one package. Which leads me to… The keyboard on this is stellar. One of, if not the very best I have had on any laptop I have owned, including the fruity one. Upon startup, you are greeted on the screen with a sweet looking Predator logo and the RGB keys dancing with lights. It adds up to a feeling of anticipation in the fun that is about to ensue. The keys are soft, yet firm in their response. The RGB lighting looks vivid and is fully customizable. You can have it one solid color, slowly changing through colors, cascading, raining down, heartbeats, etc. My personal favorite is “Neon.” It isn’t too over-the-top, but cycles through the colors slowly, showing you the entire spectrum in a slow and easy, yet pleasing, way. You can even customize the back light bar into three color zones which looks really cool. The trackpad also works very well in my use and I love the newer multi-gestures you can use. I really like not having to press and click on the trackpad. Light touches save on fatigue and just work way better than pressing on a trackpad. While laptop speakers are always pretty small, these actually sound pretty good in a pinch. That said, I will be using over-the-ear headphones 99% of the time. Since this is a gaming laptop, there is also a headphone jack in case you like wired headphones and it performs flawlessly and sounds great with my over-the-ear Sony Studio Monitors. I still prefer wire-free, so I go with Bluetooth over-the-ear headphones for my listening pleasure and the untethered immersion factor. The build quality is excellent and seems very sturdy. The screen is rigid. The keys feel solid and perform very well as stated before. Same with the trackpad. The overall design and aesthetic is extremely pleasing in my humble opinion. From the exterior light bar, to the color and minimalist Predator logo, this package looks very cool. Take it to Starbucks and I’m sure you will get some curious looks from all the people with the fruit-tops. This comes with a laptop sleeve, but it isn’t very substantial, so I would only use it for dust prevention. This is a pretty large and heavy laptop, so you may have to search out the right backpack to fit it before heading out to coffee or a gaming session with friends. The weight doesn’t bother me one bit though. I think it weighs just over seven pounds, but that is to be expected with the screen and battery size. Performance is arguably the #1 reason to get a gaming laptop and in my tests so far, the Predator has performed flawlessly on the highest settings for Halo Infinite, Forza Horizon 5, and the Ori collection. I plan on loading ESO and Diablo 4 soon and actually can’t wait to see those on this screen. I am confident that this will handle just about any game you can throw at it with ease. I checked the heat settings manually, as well as in the software, and it stays cool to the touch even maxed out while playing the aforementioned tiles. If I could change anything about the Predator, it would be having a QHD screen standard on all upper end laptops, but as mentioned before, it’s really just an added luxury with this size screen and not necessarily needed. Text would be sharper at QHD, but again, I don’t use this laptop for web browsing and office work, so not a big deal. Lastly, I would also change the MicroSD card slot to a full size SD card slot. You can always get a flexible cable adapter, but at that point just use a USB-C to SD Card adapter and you are there. All in all, there really isn’t anything I don’t like about the Predator 18 and that is saying something because I am a techie and I am surrounded with it every day for both my work, and my free time. I highly recommend checking one of these out in the store. I think you will be happy that you did!
